Welcome to The Arts Society Medway

The Arts Society Medway is a charity registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, registered charity number 1208760.

The Arts Society Medway meets monthly (except in August and December) for lectures on a broad and diverse range of topics.  It was founded by Mary Woodfield, our President, in 1999, as Medway Decorative and Fine Arts Society, when the waiting list for the Gravesend Society became too long. Our members have been sharing a curiosity for the Arts for over 20 years.

Our lectures are given by experienced and highly qualified lecturers who are experts in their chosen field. A full description can be found in the 'Lectures' section.

To supplement the monthly lectures, Special Interest Days are arranged twice per year in which a subject is studied in greater depth. Further information is available in the 'Special Interest' section.

The Society also organizes visits to art galleries, museums and places of historic and artistic interest in the UK. Find out more in our 'Visits' section.

The 'Volunteering' section describes our regular activities of promoting Young Arts, Church Recording and Heritage Volunteering.

The Society is a member of The Arts Society that was founded in 1968 as the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies. The Arts Society works to advance decorative and fine arts education and appreciation, alongside promoting the preservation of artistic heritage. It is a UK-based charity and supports a network of over 360 local societies across the country. In addition, it supports a number of Decorative and Fine Arts Societies in mainland Europe and Australasia.
